What is spresso?
spresso is an iPhone app for finding cafés you can work from. It shows each café's espresso price, WiFi speed and rating, added by the people who work there, and sums them up in one score.
How does check-in work?
When you arrive in a café, you check in with one tap. While you're checked in you can test its WiFi; when you leave you check out and rate it. spresso only lets you check in within 150 metres of the café.
What is the espresso passport?
Each café you check in at adds a stamp to that city's passport, in your Profile. Every day, spresso suggests a café you've never tried.
Which cities is spresso in?
spresso works wherever Apple Maps lists cafés. It starts in Montréal and Las Vegas; New York and Seattle come next.
How is the WiFi measured?
The test downloads from Apple's own speed-test servers for about eight seconds over the café's WiFi, during your check-in.
Do I need an account?
No. spresso uses the iCloud account already on your iPhone.
I run a café. What can I do?
Claim your café from inside it with the My café subscription (9.99 USD a month): up to three official photos, a 280-character presentation, your opening hours and the Official badge. Claiming never changes the café's price, WiFi or rating, and you can cancel any time in your iPhone settings.
How do I join the test?
spresso is in private testing on TestFlight. Ask a tester for an invite: each one can send a few from the app, in Profile.
